About the position

The Sales Design Engineer (SDE) at Diversified plays a crucial role in the pre-sales process by collaborating with Account Executives to provide technical expertise for various opportunity types, including RFPs and Design-Build projects. The SDE is responsible for delivering comprehensive technical documentation, including equipment bills of materials, labor estimates, and scopes of work, while ensuring that solutions align with customer needs and enhance user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Account Executives and Customers.
  • Attend discovery meetings to identify technology and business requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys to gather design space details as necessary.
  • Conceptualize and explain technology solutions to Customers with varying technical expertise.
  • Validate solutions for RFP/RFQ and Consultant Design-Bid-Build opportunities.
  • Review RFPs and identify areas of concern for Account Executive or Director of Sales Engineering.
  • Submit technical RFIs during the bid process as needed.
  • Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical documentation related to installations.
  • Provide quality deliverables to Account Executives for proposals, including detailed equipment bills of materials and labor estimates.
  • Create plan markups in Bluebeam and/or CAD for infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in internal kick-off meetings post-contract award and provide knowledge transfer to Design Engineers.
  • Maintain communication with Design Engineers and review Drawing Package submittals prior to implementation.
  • Participate in vendor product demonstrations and maintain relationships with manufacturer representatives.

Requirements

  • AVIXA CTS-D Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Certifications or training with at least one DSP platform (e.g., Biamp, QSC).
  • Certifications or training with at least one control platform (e.g., Crestron, Extron).
  • Certifications or training with at least one AV over IP platform (e.g., Crestron, Evertz).
  • Certifications or training with at least one collaboration platform (e.g., Zoom, Webex).
  • 5+ years of experience in audiovisual systems design.
  • 3-5 years of design experience in the AV industry.
  • Clear understanding of project phases and construction processes related to AV systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AV technology and systems used for Corporate Clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of TCP/IP routing, ACLs, QoS, VLANs, and Wireless Access Points.
  • Dante Experience.
  • Detail-oriented, independent, self-starter with a positive outlook.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Bluebeam.
