About the position

This is an outside sales position responsible for promoting the company's products and services and for building relationships with new and existing accounts. The main focus is to help customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals established by the company. The role requires a proactive approach to developing new business, penetrating existing accounts, and minimizing lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within the assigned territory. The successful candidate will seek and qualify prospects following the company's account stratification goals. This involves researching customer business needs and developing a mix of products and services to meet those needs. Evaluating market trends and recommending products to customers based on their business needs and goals is also a critical aspect of the role. The candidate must stay informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales, sharing this information with customers as part of the value-added services provided. In addition to sales responsibilities, the position requires answering customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product use. Providing product information and practical training to customer personnel is essential. The role involves driving a personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, and other events. The candidate will also communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and clients to collect all balances due based on approved credit terms. Managing deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department and troubleshooting any problems that occur during the order process is also part of the job. Participation in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events is expected, along with attendance at general sales and district meetings. Ongoing training sessions are a part of the role, and the candidate may assist with the training of new employees as requested. The candidate will review and analyze daily and weekly reports such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data. Administrative duties include preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.

Requirements

  • Submit to pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check).
  • Must sign Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement.
  • Reside or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the territory.
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
