About the position

The Sales Development Representative at BDS is a full-time role focused on generating leads and building a sales pipeline through strategic account mapping, cold calling, and emailing. This position is ideal for motivated individuals looking to advance their careers in sales within a supportive and innovative organization that emphasizes individual career development and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Generate leads and build sales pipeline through strategic account mapping, cold calling, and emailing.
  • Qualify prospects in terms of their needs, goals, and business environment.
  • Set up qualified appointments and conference calls for the sales team.
  • Track all activities through our CRM and create a weekly report on industry trends, pipeline, and conversation highlights.
  • Interact directly with potential customers to understand their business requirements and pain points to position BDS's value proposition.
  • Manage and maintain a pipeline of interested prospects and engage sales executives for next steps.
  • Utilize third-party vendor resources such as ZoomInfo and LinkedIn to gather insight into decision-makers and potential opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently, managing customer expectations through the sales cycle.
  • Set up customer meetings remotely or in-person based on need and geography.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within an inside or outside sales department, telemarketing, outbound marketing, or retail sales.
  • Self-starter with the ability to positively contribute to a congenial, start-up style environment.
  • Highly effective phone and listening skills.
  • Business to Business (B2B) technology industry sales or outbound marketing experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication via phone and email.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop and thrive within a competitive, goal-driven company.
  • Strong systems skills including Excel and Microsoft.
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results-oriented achiever who balances a 'take charge' attitude with teamwork and collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a SDR or in business development, working within a cold calling & prospecting environment.
  • Experience carrying an individual quota and hitting targets (or exceeding).
  • Experience working with a CRM (bonus points for HubSpot CRM or Salesforce) and a fair understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • Experience working both inbound and outbound channels.
  • Proficiency in cold calling, email personalization and social selling.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
