About the position

The Sales Development Representative at Marqeta plays a crucial role in driving growth by generating and managing outbound leads from Enterprise companies. This position focuses on developing targeted outbound strategies, engaging with prospective clients, and securing pre-opportunity meetings to advance prospects through the sales funnel. The role offers a pathway to a revenue-generating position within the Go To Market team, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and a results-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute targeted outbound strategies to generate leads.
  • Research prospective companies and identify key leads within these organizations.
  • Craft personalized messaging to engage leads and secure pre-opportunity meetings.
  • Manage all inbound inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Conduct high-level conversations with senior executives in prospect accounts.
  • Achieve monthly quotas of sourced qualified opportunities and closed business.
  • Create compelling communications and deliver them through various channels to maximize engagement.
  • Qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain a quality conversion rate from meetings to qualified opportunities.
  • Quickly learn Marqeta's technical capabilities and communicate them effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years in a quota-driven Sales Development Representative or similar role.
  • At least 2 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in Payments, SaaS, or Technology.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques, including cold calls and outbound messaging.
  • Track record of achieving sales quotas.
  • Familiarity with key software such as Salesforce, Salesloft, and Gong.
  • Excellent communication and objection handling skills.
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics and how SaaS companies operate.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Knowledge of the payments ecosystem is a plus.
