About the position

VAST Data is seeking a Sales Director for its Data Platform, a pivotal role within one of the fastest-growing infrastructure companies in history. This position is integral to the company's mission of revolutionizing data management for the AI era. The Sales Director will be responsible for driving sales of VAST Data's innovative data platform, which is designed to simplify the deployment and management of enterprise and AI infrastructure across data centers, edge, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the database industry landscape and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets, particularly within the data analytics sector. In this role, the Sales Director will develop and execute strategic sales plans aimed at achieving sales targets and expanding the customer base. This includes identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and relationship building. The successful candidate will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within target accounts, ensuring that VAST Data's solutions are effectively positioned in the market. The Sales Director will also conduct in-depth product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the value proposition of VAST Data's data platform. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product management, and customer success, will be essential to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and alignment with company objectives. Staying abreast of industry trends and customer needs will be crucial for effectively positioning VAST Data's solutions. Additionally, the Sales Director will negotiate contracts, close deals, and provide timely sales forecasts and activity reports to management. This role also involves serving as a brand ambassador for VAST Data at industry events and conferences, representing the company with professionalism and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and expand VAST Data's customer base.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to effectively position VAST Data's solutions in the market.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and activity reports to management.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for VAST Data, representing the company with professionalism and integrity at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.
  • Continuously strive for personal and professional growth through ongoing learning and development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales experience, with a proven track record of success in B2B sales, preferably within the database industry.
  • Excellent evangelism skills with the ability to effectively communicate the value proposition of complex technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies, storage systems, and data management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with C-level executives and senior decision-makers.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a results-driven mindset and a passion for exceeding sales targets.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales productivity tools.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
