About the position

The Sales Director at GumGum is a pivotal role focused on driving sales and managing key client relationships within the company's Market Leading Advertising platform. This position is primarily responsible for prospecting and closing sales, particularly in the Los Angeles region, and reports directly to the Group Sales Director. The Sales Director will leverage their extensive knowledge of the online media landscape and the advertising community to create value for clients through GumGum's innovative products. With a strong emphasis on achieving and exceeding sales goals, the Sales Director will be a self-motivated leader who collaborates effectively with internal teams to enhance the company's market presence. In this role, the Sales Director will manage a significant book of business, targeting annual revenue of over $5 million, particularly within the tech and telecom verticals. Key responsibilities include identifying and qualifying sales opportunities from marketing leads, generating high-volume sales activities such as cold calling and presentations, and upselling current clients on new and existing products. The Sales Director will also oversee a team of sellers, ensuring effective recruitment, onboarding, development, and performance management, while translating regional strategies into actionable goals. Additionally, the Sales Director will cultivate relationships with brands, agency contacts, and clients to provide tailored solutions, and will work closely with Account Managers and other teams to ensure the successful implementation of sold proposals. This role also supports strategic sales opportunities and initiatives in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Sales for the West Region. GumGum promotes a flexible work environment, allowing employees to work in-office or remotely, while encouraging occasional in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of business, driving revenue and new business ($5M+ annually) with a focus on the tech & telecom vertical.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities from marketing leads.
  • Generate high-volume sales activities including cold calling, presentations, and RFPs.
  • Upsell current clients on new and existing products, leveraging market insights.
  • Oversee a team of sellers, ensuring recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, and retention.
  • Translate regional strategy into actionable goals and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Cultivate relationships with brands, agency contacts, and clients to provide tailored solutions.
  • Work with Account Managers and other teams to ensure successful implementation of sold proposals.
  • Support strategic sales opportunities and initiatives with the SVP, Sales for West Region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Media or Marketing/Advertising field
  • 5+ years of digital advertising sales experience
  • Experience managing a large book of business ($4M+)
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Experience leading small sales teams
  • Programmatic experience a plus
  • Proficient in Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Quick problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding of business drivers (P/L, Operating Statement, COGS, Revenue)
  • Analytical skills for data interpretation
