About the position

The Retail Sales Enablement Risk & Governance Manager is a pivotal role within the organization, tasked with overseeing and managing a comprehensive framework that supports the business's management and performance in relation to incentive plan management, compliance, risk management, sales reporting, and the validation of sales campaigns and discrepancies. This position is essential for establishing governance structures that align with the company's overall objectives, acting as the single point of contact for various governance, operations, compliance, and regulatory support initiatives that represent Retail Sales. The manager will ensure that Retail Sales is fully integrated with the various operational and risk areas of the bank, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness and compliance of sales practices. In this role, the manager will collaborate closely with key stakeholders within the risk and operations area of the bank, including the Retail Bank Market Operations Director, the Retail Bank Risk Assessment Director, and various Business Unit Compliance Leaders. The responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, including the development and design of comprehensive incentive programs, risk assessment, and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies based on stakeholder feedback and market research. The manager will also be responsible for establishing a robust incentive review process, analyzing program data, and ensuring that all plans align with sales practice guidelines and behavior execution. Additionally, the role involves continuous improvement initiatives, where the manager will propose enhancements to existing programs, stay informed about industry best practices, and identify coaching and training opportunities related to sales practices execution. The manager will also play a crucial role in monitoring, quality assurance, testing, and metrics, collaborating with risk partners to develop procedures and reporting mechanisms that drive business objectives while mitigating risk. This position is integral to fostering a safe and sound sales culture within the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting effective risk management strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Business Director to develop and design a comprehensive incentive program and strategies aligned to the Retail Bank goals and strategies.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure strong partnerships and smooth program execution.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with incentive plans.
  • Implement risk mitigation and controls as needed based on stakeholder feedback, behaviors, market research, data, and risk review.
  • Analyze program data to evaluate the effectiveness of plans.
  • Communicate program details to participants and leadership.
  • Establish and reinforce governance framework that aligns with sales practice guidelines and behavior execution.
  • Validate incentive payments and processes, including campaign validation.
  • Propose enhancements to existing programs and stay informed about industry best practices and emerging risks related to incentive plan management.
  • Support and identify coaching and training opportunities related to sales practices execution and banker behavior.
  • Collaborate with BRCO Lead and other Risk partners to institute monitoring and develop procedures in response to monitoring results.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures, determining appropriate quality targets to drive business objectives while mitigating risk.
  • Collaborate with BRCO Leads to determine the appropriate frequency and granularity of Sales Enablement Risk reporting related to normal business, including process management, incentive plans, and sales practices.
  • Monitor the internal and external environment to identify changes in existing risks or new/emerging risks.
  • Execute risk assessment processes and partner with BRCO Lead for guidance and expertise.
  • Participate in external and internal risk reviews with BRCO leader and execute communication based on findings.
  • Collaborate with BRCO lead and other Risk partners to identify and execute the appropriate risk management and remediation strategy.
  • Design and implement a suite of controls within business processes to mitigate risk.
  • Develop processes to document/systematize controls and monitor performance of controls, addressing deficiencies.
  • Develop, implement, and report on action plans for identified issues, leveraging results from monitoring processes to self-identify issues and initiate remediation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in risk management, compliance, or governance roles, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of incentive plan management and sales practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing quality assurance procedures and reporting mechanisms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness and propose enhancements.
