About the position

The Sales Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the regional sales team by providing pre-sales technical support and presentations for Computer Networking software products. This position focuses on articulating the value of the products to prospective buyers and ensuring the best technical solutions are provided. The Sales Engineer will work closely with Account Managers to develop strategies for winning business and will be responsible for uncovering new business opportunities and building relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Account Manager(s) and Regional Director to develop business and technical strategies.
  • Investigate the prospect's needs and assist in developing a strategy to win business.
  • Assist Sales Teams in making tactical decisions regarding the sale.
  • Identify compelling events or specific business problems and offer attractive solutions to the client.
  • Provide specialized technical support to the prospect/customer using best practices techniques.
  • Account responsibility for all lead technical activities, including building relationships across customer's IT silos.
  • Assist Sales teams in achieving financial targets via the sales process and accurately assessing opportunities.
  • Create and deliver PoCs, manage competitive Bakeoffs, and prepare for presentations.
  • Perform product demonstrations and lead discussions to present solutions effectively.
  • Work with users to explore scenarios and discover new upsell opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years as a pre-sales engineer, Post Sales Network Engineer, or in a pre-sales technical support role.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Networking, NPM, APM.
  • Experience working with customers to understand their technical challenges and propose solutions.
  • Proven pre-sales record of success and achievement.
  • Strong Networking and Application background with knowledge of Linux/Windows operating systems.
  • Technical skills in Cisco routing, switching, gateways, and applications.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, Netflow, VoIP, and various network topologies.
  • Understanding of network security and infrastructure concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HP/OV, IBM Tivoli, EMC SMARTS, ArcSight.
  • Knowledge of network performance management.
