About the position

Single Source Technologies, representing Makino and other high-end machine tool products, is a single-source provider of machine tools, engineering services, tooling, supplies, application support, and customer service throughout North America. The Sales Engineer Consumables SST is responsible for the development of profitable sales of Makino EDM Consumables and the lead generation of EDM Makino machine opportunities within the assigned territory. This role involves continuous development of current and potential users of the company line of machine tool products, consumables, and accessories. The Sales Engineer will develop strong relationships with customers as the "first line" of Sales, initiating sales calls and creating rapport with Makino Sales Engineers to develop Consumable and Machine Sales relationships. The position requires organizing work and planning activities for the most effective coverage of the assigned territory, scheduling calls on actual and prospective customers, and identifying Makino machine lead opportunities by understanding customer needs and their operations. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will provide detailed descriptions of sales opportunities to the Manager and enter information into CRM software. They will contact customers and prospective customers to discuss requirements, specifications, problems, and any outstanding issues. The role also includes preparing and generating sales quotes with assistance from Consumable Support Associates, tracking past-due shipments, and keeping customers informed of any changes or situations affecting delivery. Constant review of consumable sales efforts and results in relation to forecasts or potential of the territory is essential, along with providing input into the consumable forecast process to support procurement of required materials to the Consumables Operations Group. Interacting professionally with customers and employees at all levels of the organization is a key aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive to customer locations to establish rapport, as well as deliver product in person.
  • Technical knowledge of EDM Consumable products with ability to share with customers in a professional and persuasive manner.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office (experience with SalesLogix and SAP preferred).
  • Strong ambition and eagerness to develop new sales strategies, territories and customers required.
  • Team player with ability to work closely with Makino Machines Sales Engineers and the Consumable Operations Groups and work in tandem to promote a team environment.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
  • Willingness for weekly regional travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with EDM machine tools or EDM Consumables preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience developing sales territory and the ability to 'close' the sale.
