The Sales Engineer is an integral part of the Custom Solutions/Contract Manufacturing sales team, operating within a collaborative and customer-driven commercial organization. This role is pivotal in achieving both business and individual growth objectives, which involves developing strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and providing comprehensive solutions to address their concerns. The Sales Engineer is expected to proactively generate new customer relationships through various means, including networking, referrals, virtual engagements, and face-to-face meetings. At T.O. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for achieving individual sales growth that contributes to the overall budgeted sales goals. This includes pursuing leads with a Hunter mentality, conducting product demonstrations, and presenting tailored solutions to customers and end users. The role also involves qualifying opportunities to ensure the accuracy of RFQs, quotes, and orders, all while striving to exceed customer expectations. Key account management is essential, as the Sales Engineer will maintain and grow relationships with customers by collaborating with engineering, quality, operations, and purchasing teams. Additionally, the Sales Engineer must maintain a high level of technical expertise regarding T.O. Plastics' products and services, providing technical support to drive new business and resolve customer issues. Program management is also a critical aspect of the role, requiring the Sales Engineer to manage all opportunities both internally and externally to meet customer expectations. Collaboration with customer service, engineering, quality, project management, and operational teams is necessary to ensure successful ongoing product development and after-sales service requirements are met. The Sales Engineer will also respond to customer concerns, applying independent decision-making to achieve first-time resolutions for all client issues. Strong CRM experience is required to manage customer interactions effectively and follow internal business processes. Finally, the Sales Engineer will manage business opportunities around key performance indicators and communicate successes and areas for improvement as necessary, while also adhering to safety procedures and reporting any unsafe work conditions or incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve individual sales growth contributing to the budgeted sales goals.
  • Pursue leads, give product demonstrations, and present solutions to customers and/or end users using a Hunter mentality.
  • Qualify opportunities to ensure accuracy of RFQs, quotes, and orders to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain and grow relationships and business with customers by collaborating with engineering, quality, operations, and purchasing.
  • Provide technical expertise to drive new business and solve customer problems, maintaining an exceptional level of product/service knowledge.
  • Project manage all opportunities internally and externally to meet customer expectations, working with estimating, design engineering, quality, production, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with customer service, engineering, quality, project management, and operational teams to ensure successful ongoing product development and after-sales service requirements are met.
  • Respond to customer concerns and apply independent decision-making to strive for first-time resolutions on all client problems/issues.
  • Leverage strong CRM experience to manage all customer interactions and follow internal business processes.
  • Manage business opportunities around key performance indicators and communicate successes and improvements as necessary.
  • Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents, and follow all safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven sales experience in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and the ability to provide tailored solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Technical expertise in thermoforming or related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Strong CRM experience to manage customer interactions effectively.
