About the position

The Sales Engineer position is a key individual contributor and coordination role responsible for directing and generating new business opportunities for a major program, product line, market segment, and technology within the division. This role will engage with current and potential Aftermarket customers, End Users, and the business development team, as well as participate in the New Product Commercialization process. The primary focus is to promote the utilization of both new and existing technologies, products, and services to meet customer needs while determining how the company's capabilities can be leveraged into additional markets. The Sales Engineer will concentrate on identifying potential new business and technologies that will assist the division in achieving and surpassing the divisional growth objectives established by the Strategic Deployment Process. This position does not have direct reports and will report directly to the Regional Manager I. The ideal candidate will be a systemic problem solver, recognized as the go-to person for resolving issues, providing technical expertise, and fostering relationships built on trust and accountability. They will be a team leader and player, adept at bringing the right people together to solve customer problems and will work collaboratively with others. In this role, the Sales Engineer will develop and maintain relationships with customers to gain insights into future market and customer needs. They will research and document new technologies that may contribute to the division's growth, developing business models that include projected sales, potential market penetration, gross margins, risk analysis, and business feasibility. Additionally, they will ensure that Parker products are specified to maintain and increase revenue by prioritizing opportunities on an account-by-account basis to achieve optimal sales and margin results. The Sales Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive technical knowledge of group/divisional products, applications, features, advantages, and benefits, while keeping up with internal and external training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and generate new business opportunities for major programs and product lines.
  • Work with current and potential Aftermarket customers and End Users.
  • Promote utilization of new technologies and current products to meet customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to understand future market needs.
  • Research and document new technologies to assist in division growth.
  • Develop business models for new technologies including projected sales and market penetration.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure Parker products are specified for revenue growth.
  • Keep management informed of competitive products and market changes.
  • Assist divisions in planning strategies for assigned accounts.
  • Support cross-divisional and group product referrals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical/engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years related technical experience.
  • Program management experience from business model development through design and implementation processes.
  • Innovative and creative background and capabilities.
  • Proven track record of premier customer service mentality.
  • Ability to develop solutions to customer problems and translate them into business development strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
