About the position

The Sales Engineer for Building Automation Systems will leverage technical skills and sales experience to identify and manage sales opportunities within the building automation sector. This role involves collaboration with project development, engineering, and installation teams to ensure successful project implementation and customer satisfaction. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for account management, bid preparation, and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow assigned territory for building automation systems.
  • Identify sales opportunities and manage accounts within the building automation department.
  • Ensure solutions offered lead to successful project implementation and high customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and recommend bid opportunities, leading bid preparation and customer negotiations until handover to the BAS team.
  • Drive effective communication throughout all stages of the sales process.
  • Perform take-offs and bid projects, understanding the technical and financial context of customer needs.
  • Forecast and maintain visibility of the sales pipeline for upcoming opportunities.
  • Secure purchase orders according to quotations provided by the tendering team.
  • Develop understanding of utility incentive programs to maximize customer benefits.
  • Conduct site assessments and provide recommendations for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Generate high activity levels to fulfill the sales pipeline and manage opportunities from new leads to closure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' successful sales experience in HVAC or building automation system industry.
  • Knowledge of the construction/HVAC industry, automatic temperature controls, and building automation systems.
  • Good understanding and experience of mechanical HVAC/building controls systems.
  • Excellent initiative and interpersonal communication skills; able to work with coworkers and clients.
  • Ability to read project specifications and blueprint drawings.
  • Eager and committed to working in a fast-paced energy services company.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent field experience.
  • Successful sales experience in the building automation system industry.
  • Proficient in conventional business tools including Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license and availability for local travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in energy engineering and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Familiarity with energy savings and energy solutions in building automation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
