About the position

As part of the U.S. Glass Sales team, the Sales Engineer is responsible for managing and increasing Pyrotek's sales of technical products and solutions to core customers. This role involves working closely with the technical sales team to develop and sustain long-term mutually beneficial relationships with Pyrotek's Glass customer base. The position is remote, primarily covering the Southeast-Southwest USA, and the ideal candidate should reside in this region. The Sales Engineer will establish, grow, and enhance sales accounts by creating effective working relationships with the customer base that meet or exceed expectations. This includes negotiating pricing, minimum order quantities, and stocking agreements with vendors, suppliers, and customers, while also communicating any changes internally to meet customer demands. The role requires providing prompt technical support to customers by collaborating internally to ensure positive resolutions to issues. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will solicit sales of new or additional products, prepare and present quotations, and set final prices and margins for new products or services. Maintaining awareness of competitors' activities and employing countermeasures to contain competitor efforts is crucial. The role also involves prospecting new customers, developing customer stocking agreements, and assisting in resolving customer accounts receivable issues. The Sales Engineer will present technical presentations to both internal teams and customers, meet or exceed sales and gross profit targets for the assigned territory, and actively strategize with management on sales tactics. Effective sales support is essential to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded, which includes establishing positive working relationships with customers and internal teams, drafting and pricing quotes, and regularly visiting customers to build rapport and provide training.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, grow, and enhance sales accounts by creating effective working relationships with the customer base.
  • Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, and stocking agreements with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Provide prompt technical support to customers by collaborating internally to ensure positive resolutions.
  • Solicit sales of new or additional products via telephone or in person, and prepare, price, and present quotations.
  • Maintain awareness of competitors' activities and employ countermeasures to contain competitor efforts.
  • Prospect new customers and prepare, price, and present quotations.
  • Develop and prepare customer stocking agreements and submit to Supply Chain Team for final review.
  • Assist in resolving customer accounts receivable issues as needed.
  • Present internal and customer technical presentations as requested.
  • Meet or exceed sales and gross profit targets for assigned territory.
  • Strategize with management on sales tactics.
  • Provide effective sales support to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Establish positive working relationships with customers by fielding territory customer calls and handling orders.
  • Draft and price quotes, gather data, and prepare reports and/or presentations.
  • Regularly visit customers at their facilities for selling, building rapport, and training.
  • Research and address all customer problems and requests, defining best products as solutions.
  • Field and resolve customer complaints concerning billing or products, documenting accordingly and timely.
  • Partner with customer service, operations, and supply chain to ensure order fulfillment expectations are met.
  • Utilize CRM System for trip reporting and internal sales relationship communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five (5) years of interrelated work/sales experience in a technical or process-related industry.
  • Experience within the flat glass industry, and with bending, tempering, or manufacturing flat glass is a plus.
  • Passion for providing a high level of customer service and executing business development activities.
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business implications of decisions and ability to build relationships and sell technical solutions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, judgment, and keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications systems, including Microsoft Office Products, Power Bi, Visual, ERP, and CRM systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the flat glass industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of bending, tempering, or manufacturing flat glass.
