About the position

As a Sales Engineer II at Vanderlande, you will play a crucial role in the pre-contract phase of project sales, collaborating closely with the Sales Manager and other team members. Your primary objective will be to identify and analyze customer needs, transforming these insights into effective sales concepts. This position requires you to provide solutions for complex technical and business challenges, particularly in the areas of data and process analysis. You will serve as the lead consultant for clients, guiding them to find the best solutions tailored to their requirements. In this dynamic and multidisciplinary sales environment, you will be responsible for creating competitive, high-quality quotations. You will take the lead in developing concepts and quotations, ensuring a smooth transition to the operations team during the handover phase and throughout the project implementation on-site. Your analytical skills will be essential in crafting concept solutions based on a thorough understanding of the customer's logistics processes, enabling you to effectively estimate costs and pricing for large, complex projects involving various types of equipment. Your role will also involve utilizing your strong organizational skills and proficiency in commonly used software to analyze customer processes, system throughputs, and the application of automation equipment. You will need to demonstrate well-developed influencing skills to build professional relationships with clients and internal stakeholders alike. Experience in an international professional environment, particularly within a project organization, will be beneficial as you navigate the complexities of global sales.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and sales team on project pre-contract activities.
  • Identify and analyze customer needs to develop successful sales concepts.
  • Provide solutions for complex technical and business issues, focusing on data and process analyses.
  • Lead consultations with clients to determine the best solutions for their needs.
  • Create competitive, high-quality quotations for projects.
  • Take the lead in the handover phase to operations and during project implementation on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with complex sales processes, preferably in the automated material handling industry.
  • Strong analytical skills to create concept solutions based on customer logistics processes.
  • Exceptional data analysis and preparation skills.
  • Experience estimating costs and pricing for large complex projects using various equipment.
  • Ability to understand equipment use and assist in its selection and specification.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in commonly used computer software.
  • Analytical ability to understand customer processes, system throughputs, and automation equipment usage.
  • Well-developed influencing skills, both internal and external.
  • Strong communication skills with a creative approach to building client relationships.
  • Experience working in an international professional environment, preferably a project organization.
