The role focuses on the sales of Controls and Pneumatics components, which are sourced from leading manufacturers such as SMC, Epson, Gast, Baumer, Panasonic, Lenze, and Turck. This position is primarily business-to-business, meaning the sales efforts will be directed towards companies rather than individual consumers. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for understanding customer needs, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving. In this role, the Sales Engineer will establish and maintain professional relationships with key personnel within customer organizations, including those in purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance. The goal is to develop new accounts while also nurturing existing customer relationships to enhance market penetration. The Sales Engineer will be expected to secure orders through various means, including in-person visits, phone calls, and virtual meetings via MS Teams. Additionally, the role requires the development and implementation of sales strategies in collaboration with management to meet annual sales targets. The position also involves analyzing customer inquiries regarding product features, performance, and applications, ensuring that the Sales Engineer can provide accurate and helpful information. Travel within the specified New England territory is a requirement, as visiting customer facilities is essential for maintaining contact and securing sales. Responsibilities

  • Identifies and targets potential customers, services and maintains existing customers, and improves customer relationships to increase market penetration.
  • Establishes professional customer relationships with appropriate customer personnel and develops new accounts while maintaining and increasing the current customer base.
  • Secures orders from existing and potential customers through visits, phone calls, and MS Teams video calls.
  • Develops sales strategies in conjunction with management to sell applicable product lines and services, implementing these strategies to achieve predetermined annual sales targets.
  • Visits customer facilities, maintains contact, and consults to secure sales to existing and potential customers.
  • Analyzes and researches pertinent information to respond to customer inquiries regarding product features, performance, applications, substitutions, and special requests.
  • Travels within the specified New England territory as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in industrial automation or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and provide tailored solutions using the company's product portfolio.
  • Experience with business-to-business sales processes and strategies.
  • Familiarity with automation components and their applications is a plus.
