About the position

As a Sales Engineer at AAP Automation, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of outside sales within a designated territory. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain strong business relationships with key customers, including establishing long-term connections at the executive level of top client organizations. You will set specific goals and objectives aimed at generating revenue through market development, forecasting, lead generation, qualification, and closing sales. Your ability to expand the existing sales base will be essential, as you will build rapport with both existing and potential clients, effectively explain product and service capabilities, overcome objections, and prepare proposals and quotations. In this role, you will also be expected to provide solutions and become a reliable resource for your customer base. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with other Product Specialists, Customer Service teams, and Engineers to exchange information and identify opportunities for expanding product sales. Additionally, you will engage with factory representatives to grow revenue for key product lines. Continuous learning about new products based on vendor initiatives will be necessary to identify value-added opportunities. Performing sales calls, product demonstrations, and other developmental activities to increase market share among preferred channel partners will be essential to your success. You will maintain and submit activity reports and undertake other duties as assigned. Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of outside sales in a specific territory.
  • Develops and maintains business relationships with key customers in that territory.
  • Forms long-term relationships with customers, including at the executive level of the location's top customer.
  • Sets goals and objectives, generating revenue through market development, forecasting, lead generation, qualification, and closing sales.
  • Expands existing sales base through consistent performance, building rapport with existing and potential clients; explaining product and service capabilities; overcoming objections; preparing proposals and quotations.
  • Provides solutions and becomes a reliable resource for the customer base.
  • Cooperates and works with other Product Specialists, Customer Service teams, and Engineers to exchange information and identify opportunities, qualifying accounts to expand product sales.
  • Works and collaborates with factory representatives to grow revenue of key product lines.
  • Regularly learns new products based on key vendor initiatives and identifies more value-added opportunities.
  • Performs sales calls, product demonstrations, and other developmental activities to increase market share of preferred channel partners.
  • Maintains and submits activity reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A technical college degree, or a minimum of three (3) years' experience in industrial distribution sales or other combined relevant experience.
  • Possess technical and/or mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven expertise in a minimum of 1 of the following: Machine Control, Motion Control, Safety, Robotics.
  • The ability to utilize skills to solve customer problems and assist sales staff.
  • Proven achievement in year over year sales growth goals.
  • Under administrative direction, setting up own standard of performance. Virtually self-supervising.
  • Ability to identify market potential by qualifying accounts.
  • Powerful sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Proven customer relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to understand written and oral English and be proficient with computer, email, spreadsheets and look up documents online.
  • A strong 'team attitude' with the ability to work productively in group settings with other associates, customers, and vendors.
  • A commitment to the concept of 'doing it right the first time'.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Aptitude to read parts manuals, vendor catalogs, understand blueprints, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Must be able to work in an industrial and manufacturing environment daily as required.
