About the position

The Sales Engineer position at a prominent player in the engineering and high-tech manufacturing sector is a critical role that serves as the main point of contact for clients. This position involves a combination of technical expertise and sales acumen, focusing on B2B interactions to drive sales growth and maintain a robust customer base. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for forecasting sales and expanding the customer base within a designated territory. This includes engaging with current and potential customers, such as engineers and designers, to demonstrate the desirability and practicality of the company's products and services. In this role, the Sales Engineer will support distribution sales growth through various means, including training, joint marketing efforts, and goal setting. A significant part of the job involves reviewing customer drawings and plans to prepare accurate cost estimates and engineered products. The Sales Engineer will also provide technical support related to the operation of motors, drives, and other related products, ensuring that clients receive the necessary assistance to optimize their use of these technologies. The position requires the preparation and presentation of customer quotations, training sessions, seminars, and special reports as directed. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will collaborate with Accounts Receivables to manage delinquent payments and will be responsible for submitting regular sales reports. Sharing market information with other departments is also a key responsibility, as is participating in the Sales Engineer Certification Program to enhance technical knowledge of the products offered. After-sale support is a crucial aspect of this role, which includes system setup, programming and testing of stepper and servo motor driver/controllers, and troubleshooting to optimize system performance. The Sales Engineer will also be involved in preparing technical articles for monthly newsletters and setting up demonstration units for on-site demonstrations and trade shows.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for B2B interaction, forecasting and sales growth by maintaining existing customer base and increasing new customer base within designated territory.
  • Call on current and potential customers such as engineers, designers, or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial, and other establishments.
  • Support distribution sales growth via trainings, support, joint calls, joint marketing and goal setting.
  • Review customer drawings, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates and properly engineered products.
  • Provide technical support to clients relating to operation of motors, drives and related products.
  • Prepare and present customer quotations, trainings, seminars, call reports, and special reports as directed.
  • Work with Accounts Receivables to collect delinquent payments.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports.
  • Share market information working with other departments throughout the organization.
  • Participate in the Sales Engineer Certification Program as related to the Technical Knowledge of products.
  • Provide pre-sale consulting and support; motor sizing; product recommendations and cross-reference other manufacturers' products.
  • Hold technical seminars and product training sessions for sales and field engineers.
  • Set up demo units for on-site demonstration and trade shows.
  • Prepare technical articles for monthly newsletter publication.
  • Provide after-sale support including system setup, stepper and servo motor driver/controller programming and testing, interfacing products to custom software, product troubleshooting and system performance optimization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales engineering or a related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of motors, drives, and related products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients effectively.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in B2B sales and customer relationship management.
  • Strong analytical skills to review customer documents and prepare cost estimates.
