About the position

Adaptec Solutions is seeking a Sales Engineer specializing in Material Handling and Warehouse Automation. This position is crucial for driving sales of our diverse range of products, services, and solutions to both new and existing customers. The ideal candidate will be based within a two-hour radius of our Memphis, TN location, allowing for effective management of customer relationships and sales opportunities in the region. The primary focus of this role is to prospect and cold call designated accounts, while also managing existing customer relationships to develop new opportunities. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for quoting products, integrated systems, and installations, with a particular emphasis on material handling and engineered product sales. This includes managing all aspects of the quoting process, from estimating and design to presentation, acceptance, and implementation. A working knowledge of material handling products and systems is essential, as the Sales Engineer will collaborate with the engineering team to develop tailored systems and solutions. Coordination with the installation team and operations manager will also be necessary to ensure successful implementation of projects. Regular travel to visit customers and prospects is expected, limited to a specific geographic region, with occasional overnight travel for manufacturer training and Adaptec Sales Meetings, typically 1-2 times per year. The role will involve a combination of office work and remote work, providing flexibility in the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting and cold calling designated accounts.
  • Managing existing customer relationships to develop new opportunities.
  • Quoting products, integrated systems, and installations with a focus on material handling and engineered product sales.
  • Managing all aspects of the quoting process including estimating, design, presentation, acceptance, and implementation.
  • Collaborating with the engineering team to develop systems and solutions.
  • Coordinating with the installation team and operations manager for project implementation.
  • Traveling regularly to meet with customers and prospects, with limited overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering background preferred.
  • Project Management Experience preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical or technical sales.
  • Strong understanding of the application of material handling and engineered products.
  • CAD background is helpful.
  • Outside sales experience with direct end users.
  • Solution-based approach to sales.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
