The Sales Engineer for Mid-Market at Retool plays a crucial role in driving revenue by partnering with potential customers to ensure their success with the Retool platform. This position involves a significant technical component, where the Sales Engineer must help prospects understand how to build internal applications, deploy them on their infrastructure, and connect to essential resources. The role requires building strong relationships with customers and leveraging an engineering background to facilitate the sales process effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with potential customers to understand their technical environment and business goals.
  • Create and deliver product demos, build apps within Retool with prospects, and manage the technical close throughout the sales cycle.
  • Identify relevant stakeholders, budgets, timelines, and manage the entire sales process.
  • Develop technical content to demonstrate best practices, including sample apps, documentation, and videos.
  • Identify and overcome blockers for customers in adopting Retool.
  • Dive into the codebase to understand technical limitations and address them to close deals.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for users during the presales process.
  • Answer technical questions from customers as they arise.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years in a closing technical pre-sales role.
  • Experience working with technical prospects and customers.
  • Expertise in managing pre-sales cycles and conducting technical evaluations using sales methodologies like MEDDPICC.
  • Strong knowledge of Javascript, SQL, various no-SQL databases, and APIs.
  • Familiarity with web/software development or a background in computer science/STEM.
  • Ability to think on your feet and a passion for creative solutions.
