About the position

The Pre-Sales Systems Engineer (SE) position at our exciting networking technology company is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with sales acumen. As a member of our growing team, you will work closely with regional Account Managers to develop new business opportunities by engaging directly with customers and partners. This role requires you to act as a trusted technical advisor, effectively positioning our product offerings to potential clients. You will be responsible for delivering pre-sales presentations and demonstrations, showcasing the capabilities of our solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. In this role, you will manage and own all technical aspects of the sales cycle, ensuring that our solutions meet the specific needs of our clients. This includes architecting, installing, and configuring both virtual and hardware appliances within customer environments for proof-of-concept and production deployments. You will also be responsible for maintaining a strong technical relationship with customers, partners, and resellers, providing technical training, addressing problem escalations, and managing new feature requests. Your ability to maintain a strong market awareness and knowledge of competitive technologies will be crucial in positioning our offerings effectively against competitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP. You should have hands-on experience with VLANs, IP subnetting, and creating access control lists (ACLs) on routers and switches. Recent experience using the command-line interface (CLI) on major router and switch vendors is essential. Additionally, you should possess excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to present complex technical information to a diverse audience within an organization. A minimum of 4 years of experience as a pre-sales Systems/Sales Engineer is required to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Sell to and persuade technical personnel at medium and large enterprises
  • Deliver pre-sales presentations and demonstrations to customers and partners
  • Support sales efforts through on-site meetings, group presentations, and marketing activities
  • Manage and own all technical aspects of the sales cycle
  • Architect, install, and configure virtual and hardware appliances into customer environments for proof-of-concept and production deployments
  • Own the technical relationship with customers, partners, and resellers through technical training, problem escalation, and new feature requests
  • Maintain a strong market awareness and knowledge of competitive technologies to best position the product offerings

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a pre-sales Systems/Sales Engineer
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Working experience with VLANs and IP subnetting
  • Knowledge and experience creating access control lists (ACLs) on routers and switches
  • Recent experience using the CLI on major router and switch vendors
  • Ability to present to an audience of mixed roles and technical abilities within an organization
  • Troubleshooting skills that include hands-on experience with the configuration of networking products
