About the position

The Sales Engineer at Harmonic will be responsible for managing technical engagements with broadband service providers, focusing on the deployment of Harmonic's fiber to the home portfolio. This role involves collaborating with customers to design and architect solutions, delivering technical presentations, and serving as a subject matter expert in fiber broadband technologies. The position is fully remote for candidates within the United States and reports to the Sr. Director of Broadband Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Position and sell Harmonic's fiber broadband products and services.
  • Collaborate with customers to design and architect solutions that meet their needs.
  • Deliver technical sales-oriented presentations to technical staff at customers and prospects.
  • Train partners on the technical advantages of Harmonic's fiber solution.
  • Act as the technical PON subject matter expert for the telco sales team.
  • Work closely with Sales and Product leaders to align coverage and activity with business needs.
  • Assist with technical responses for RFx's.
  • Build and perform lab demos for customers and prospects and assist with integration into customer environments.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in the targeted market sectors.
  • Experience in the telco service provider industry (ILECs, CLECs, electric cooperatives, WISPs, municipalities).
  • Understanding of data networking infrastructures and associated technologies (PON, Routing/Switching, L2/L3, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of common toolsets for configuration, management, and monitoring of OLTs.
  • In-depth knowledge of fiber to the home standards (25GS, 10G EPON, XGS PON, GPON).
  • Experience with Linux, k8s, and docker.
  • Strong customer-facing and relationship management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hands-on system installation, configuring, and troubleshooting of fiber to the home ecosystems.
  • Ability to develop creative technical sales positioning and solution selling methods.
  • Excellent technical writing and speaking skills.
