About the position

The Sales Engineer at Automatic Building Controls, Inc. / FIX Consulting, LLC is responsible for promoting and selling building automation products and services. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders, including owner's representatives, consulting engineers, and mechanical contractors, to drive sales growth and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process and installation phase. The position requires a strong understanding of product design and applications, as well as the ability to provide excellent customer service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the sale of ABC products and services to organizations with or without building automation systems.
  • Obtain sales orders by contacting owner's representatives, consulting engineers, and mechanical contractors.
  • Assist in the basic layout and design of systems for large commercial buildings and industrial plants.
  • Conduct financial analysis of equipment purchases and select equipment to comply with specifications.
  • Estimate and prepare proposals, execute orders, and prepare and submit all approval data.
  • Serve the customer after the sale and during installation to ensure satisfaction and promote future business.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Maintain current knowledge of product design and applications to ensure proper sales.
  • Promote a favorable company image to customers through courteous and helpful service.
  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain features, and solicit orders.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, and delivery dates; determine price schedules/discount rates.
  • Increase market penetration of all products and services within the target market.
  • Identify prospective customers using business directories, leads from existing clients, and participation in organizations and trade shows.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Negotiate details of contracts and payments, and prepare sales contracts and internal order forms.
  • Recommend products and services to customers based on their needs and interests.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree required, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 years or more of sales experience within the HVAC or Controls industry.
