The Sales Engineer position at Love's involves providing preliminary engineering, cost estimates, and schedules for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Hydrogen, and Electric Vehicle (EV) fueling stations, as well as Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities. This role is crucial in supporting business development activities by determining cost-effective and technically sound solutions. The Sales Engineer will engage in discussions with permitting agencies and gas and electric utilities, facilitate vendor and contractor quote requests, negotiate prices, and lead discussions with leadership regarding both technical and financial approaches. Additionally, the role includes developing new technologies and maintaining relationships with both new and long-standing vendors and contractors. The major responsibilities of the Sales Engineer include developing project scopes, cost estimations, and preliminary schedules. The engineer will attend presentations with business developers to present station designs to customers and will be responsible for the preliminary design and engineering of proposed opportunities. Supporting the sales process is essential, as the engineer must clearly articulate the operational benefits and considerations associated with the proposed solutions. Negotiation with utilities, equipment vendors, contractors, and site hosts is also a key aspect of the role, ensuring that acceptable technical and economic conclusions are reached. Furthermore, the Sales Engineer will participate in the handover of projects to project management and operations, while also maintaining relationships with existing CNG equipment vendors and construction contractors, and building new strategic relationships with Hydrogen, RNG, and EV vendors and contractors. Regular reviews of the economics of recently completed projects will be conducted to capture lessons learned, and the role requires the ability to travel to job sites and interact with customers.
