About the position

As a Sales Engineer at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of power systems worldwide. The devices manufactured by SEL are embedded in the power grid, preventing blackouts and making outages safer and shorter in duration. These products incorporate cutting-edge technologies that enhance cybersecurity, automation, and communication, operating at speeds that push the grid to function more efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to develop strong partnerships with customers, providing them with unmatched value through SEL's products and services. In this role, you will manage and develop relationships with SEL customers, understanding their true requirements and objectives. You will determine, communicate, and deliver the optimal SEL solution that best meets their needs. A significant part of your job will involve building and maintaining knowledge of all SEL products, as well as educating customers about SEL technology and innovation. You will also be responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering upon quarterly orders forecasts and sales goals. Additionally, you will collect, analyze, and report on industry, competitor, and customer trends to the greater SEL organization. Collaboration will be key as you work to understand and drive the resolution of customer feedback and product issues. You will act as a liaison between customers, contracts & risk, and accounts receivable to facilitate commercial relationships. Utilizing business tools to maintain customer relationship information, opportunity tracking, and sales activities will also be part of your daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships with SEL customers.

  • Build and maintain knowledge of all SEL products and teach customers about SEL technology and innovation.
  • Develop, maintain and deliver upon quarterly orders forecasts and sales goals.
  • Collect, analyze and report industry, competitor and customer trends to the greater SEL organization.
  • Work collaboratively to understand and drive the resolution of customer feedback and product issues.
  • Liaise between customers, contracts & risk, and accounts receivable to facilitate commercial relationships.
  • Utilize business tools to maintain customer relationship information, opportunity tracking and sales activities.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in technical sales.
  • 3 or more years of experience in an electrical engineering or technical sales environment.
  • Demonstrated success working in a customer-facing role.
  • Effective and engaging communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Fluent in local language and business practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, or related discipline.
