About the position

SS&C is a global provider of investment and financial services and software for the financial services and healthcare industries. The Sales Engineer position is based in New York City and is part of the SS&C Advent team, which is recognized for its award-winning software and services tailored for the global investment management industry. The role of a Solutions Consultant is crucial as it involves multiple aspects of the sales process, requiring a deep understanding of portfolio accounting systems and the financial services industry, particularly in relation to buy-side entities such as hedge funds and asset managers. The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset. The role demands innovation, collaboration, and a sense of urgency in executing tasks. The Solutions Consultant will act as a subject matter expert during the sales process, uncovering and quantifying customer business issues, and providing customized solution demonstrations that highlight the value of SS&C's offerings. Additionally, the position involves defining sales strategies, preparing data and reports for sales events, and maintaining a high level of product knowledge. The Solutions Consultant will also participate in demand creation events such as seminars and trade shows, and will be expected to travel between 10% to 65% depending on the sales coverage model. This role is integral to the success of the sales team and requires a proactive approach to customer engagement and solution delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and execute Sales Engineering/Sales Methodology
  • Act as subject matter expert on Advent's solutions during the sales process
  • Uncover, elevate, quantify, and confirm customer's critical business issues
  • Assist in defining sales strategy and prepare appropriate data and reports for sales events
  • Provide customized solution demonstrations linking Advent's value to customer business issues
  • Effectively demonstrate and communicate the differentiating value of Advent's solutions
  • Act as a consultant on product integration strategy with customer's internal applications and third-party technologies
  • Set expectations regarding implementation timeframes and resources required for success
  • Communicate the value of Advent's Implementation Methodology (AIM)
  • Participate in demand creation events (seminars, trade shows, conferences, etc.)
  • Feed knowledge gained from customers back to business management and product management groups
  • Maintain high level of product/solution knowledge and stay updated on applicable technology changes
  • Deliver high quality documentation of recommended solutions to clients and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of portfolio and investment accounting for middle and back-office workflow and operations
  • Working knowledge of asset management industry
  • Experience with SS&C Advent software products or consulting experience
  • Experience in investment/fund accounting, straight-through processing applications, or financial technology sales
  • Working knowledge of private equity middle and back-office workflow and operations
  • Leadership skills with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Analytic and strategic thinking abilities
  • Initiative, drive, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork capabilities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
