About the position
The Sales Engineer at DXP is responsible for developing strategic plans and forecasts for accounts, maintaining and growing customer relationships, and identifying new sales opportunities within the assigned territory. This role requires strong communication skills, a customer-driven approach, and the ability to solve problems using the products represented by the company. The Sales Engineer will work both in the field and in an office environment, focusing on exceeding sales goals and providing exceptional service to industrial customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop strategic plans and accurate forecasts for accounts
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve customer issues
- Grow and maintain new and existing accounts
- Stay updated on the latest trends in the product line
- Identify new sales/service opportunities within the territory
- Solve customer problems using the products represented
- Understand customer vision and supply chain initiatives to provide proactive solutions
- Establish and expand relationships with decision makers in customer organizations
- Document success in exceeding sales goals and objectives
- Provide monthly reports for key accounts highlighting changes and challenges
Requirements
- 3+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in industrial sales
- Stable work history
- Strong work ethic and time management skills
- Customer-service oriented mentality
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work productively with minimal supervision
- Experience maintaining strong, long-term customer relationships
- Comfortable with face-to-face customer interaction and cold calling
- Ability to relate well to all types and levels of people in an industrial manufacturing company
- Computer savvy
- High School diploma or GED; degree is a plus
- Acceptable driving record according to company guidelines
