About the position

The primary function of the Sales Engineer (SE) position at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is to promote and sell Trelleborg products and services within an assigned geographic area, market industry, product range, or list of customer accounts in order to achieve sales and profit targets. The SE will work closely with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and Regional Sales Director (RSD) to establish sales and profit targets, ensuring that these goals are met through effective sales strategies and customer engagement. In this role, the Sales Engineer will focus on achieving sales growth by meeting the sales targets established with the RSM and RSD. Profitability is also a key focus, as the SE will work to achieve profit targets agreed upon with management. The SE will generate and convert projects for key target customers, managing the project cycle and velocity to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction. This includes tracking and monitoring project win rates and utilizing the C4C system for all project information. The SE will pursue sales leads and visit both existing and new strategic customers, emphasizing total customer satisfaction and the generation of projects for sales growth. Building strong customer relationships and strategic partnerships is essential, as the SE will assess customer needs, recommend appropriate products and services, respond to complex inquiries, negotiate prices and delivery times, and ultimately win sales orders to meet targets. The SE will also identify and research prospective target growth customers to generate future sales and repeat business, providing valuable market feedback and intelligence to various departments within the company. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will promote both standard and custom-engineered products, establishing market sell prices and profit margins in collaboration with the Marketing Department. The SE will ensure a timely flow of quotations to maximize competitive edge and will be responsible for account and territory sales budgets and estimates. Developing strategic sales plans for key customers and global key accounts is also a critical aspect of this role, along with pre-planning annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly strategic sales visits to prioritize and schedule activities effectively. Overall, the Sales Engineer will work with Segment Management and the Marketing department to increase Trelleborg's brand awareness and identify marketing needs and opportunities within their territory.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve Sales Target established with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and Regional Sales Director (RSD).
  • Achieve Profit Target agreed with the RSM and RSD.
  • Generate and convert projects for key target customers and manage project cycle and velocity.
  • Achieve KPI sales targets established in collaboration with the RSM.
  • Track, monitor and work to improve project win rate using C4C for all project information.
  • Pursue sales leads and visit existing and new strategic customers focusing on Total Customer Satisfaction and Generation of Projects for Sales Growth.
  • Build customer relationships and strategic partnerships, assess customer needs, and recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Respond to complex customer inquiries, negotiate prices and delivery times, and win sales orders to meet sales targets.
  • Identify, research, and contact prospective target growth customers that will generate future sales and repeat business.
  • Provide market feedback and intelligence for use by various departments in Marketing Americas.
  • Promote standard products and custom engineered products where needed, acting as a total solution provider.
  • Establish market sell price and profit margin utilizing value-based pricing in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
  • Ensure timely flow of quotations to maximize competitive edge to win orders.
  • Complete month-end reports and submit them in the first week of each month.
  • Responsible for account and territory sales budget and estimates.
  • Develop short and long-term strategic sales plans for key customers, growth customers, and global key accounts.
  • Pre-plan annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly strategic sales visits, establishing customer action plans and prioritizing activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 Year College degree required (Business or Engineering preferred).
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in sales or engineering related field.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Strong technical aptitude beneficial; must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to read and understand technical prints preferred.
  • Knowledge of rubber/plastic products is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality requirements is beneficial.
