About the position

The Sales Estimator position at Tecta America is a critical role that involves generating qualified leads and developing a deep understanding of customer needs to provide tailored roofing solutions. This position is exempt and reports directly to the sales vice president. The primary responsibilities include cultivating relationships with industrial and commercial building owners, facility managers, and other stakeholders to establish Tecta America as the preferred provider of roofing solutions. The Sales Estimator will be responsible for analyzing customer requirements, diagnosing roofing needs, and matching them with appropriate roof system alternatives, including replacement, repair, and preventative maintenance options. In this role, the Sales Estimator will create detailed cost budgets and proposals for various roofing solutions, ensuring that all estimates are accurate and comprehensive. This includes drafting proposals for general contractors and private clients, analyzing blueprints and documentation to prepare bids, and consulting with engineers, architects, and subcontractors to discuss and resolve any issues related to cost estimates. Regular attendance at weekly sales meetings and tracking of weekly activities is also required to ensure alignment with sales goals and objectives. The position demands a strong focus on customer development and the ability to identify and qualify opportunities effectively. The Sales Estimator will be expected to maintain technical knowledge of various roof systems and repair alternatives, ensuring that they can communicate the company's strengths and value propositions effectively to clients. This role is essential for driving sales and ensuring that the operations team has all necessary documentation and project information should a project be awarded.

Responsibilities

  • Generate qualified leads and develop an understanding of customer needs.
  • Cultivate new and existing relationships with industrial and commercial building owners and facility managers.
  • Communicate the company's strengths and value propositions as the preferred provider of roof solutions.
  • Maintain technical and field knowledge of various roof systems and repair alternatives.
  • Analyze and diagnose customers' roofing needs and match them to appropriate roof system alternatives.
  • Create cost budgets for various roof solutions and proposals to present to owner's representatives.
  • Draft proposals for General Contractors, private clients, and other customers.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare bids and estimates.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
  • Communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes to cost estimates.
  • Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings.
  • Track and report weekly activities.
  • Hand off all proper documentation including estimates by cost codes, scope of work, and man hours to the operations team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of selling experience in roofing, construction, or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge of and ability to execute the sales process with a strong profit orientation.
  • Ability to understand both technical and financial aspects of construction operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal team members.
  • Advanced written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Roofing industry knowledge or experience.
