About the position

As the Sales & Events Manager at Semiahmoo Resort, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and ensuring exceptional experiences for our clients. This position requires a strategic mindset, as you will be responsible for preparing annual internal prework and group strategic plans, collaborating with the General Manager on departmental objectives and key results (OKRs), and maintaining industry research to project future business volume. You will manage group yielding efforts with support from the General Manager and Revenue Manager, and report weekly on achievements related to prospecting, inquiries, activities, and industry events. Additionally, you will ensure financial accuracy in monthly reports, including profit and loss statements, sales and event platforms, and accounts receivable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare internal prework and group strategic plans annually.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on departmental OKRs and revenue targets.
  • Conduct industry research and property data analytics to project future business volume.
  • Manage group yielding efforts with support from the General Manager and Revenue Manager.
  • Report weekly achievements for prospecting, inquiries, activities, and industry events.
  • Ensure financial accuracy in monthly reports, including P&L, sales & event platform, and deposits/AR.
  • Meet and exceed revenue growth expectations for assigned segments.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, including new business development and networking.
  • Achieve prospecting goals and sales activities.
  • Respond to inbound RFPs within 24 hours.
  • Negotiate with clients and close deals effectively.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients throughout the event planning process.
  • Monitor client satisfaction during event planning and execution.
  • Forecast revenue for assigned groups and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Attend required meetings and achieve client sentiment goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of hospitality sales experience.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read and write business correspondence effectively.
  • Proficient in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong management skills including time management, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Strong interpersonal influence skills including coaching and relationship-building.
  • Ability to travel as needed for client entertainment and meetings.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, and Excel.

  • Experience in event planning and management.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry trends and best practices.
  • Knowledge of local attractions and activities to enhance guest experiences.
