About the position

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies is seeking a property and casualty field territory underwriter for the Casper, Wyoming territory. This role is essential in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while fostering profitable growth for agency partners. The position emphasizes building strong relationships with independent agents and requires a commitment to service excellence and ethical practices.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze risks, price, negotiate, and make informed decisions on commercial business.
  • Sell and solicit business across all available business units within the territory to build strong agency relationships.
  • Lead the territory in strategic plan development and execution for growth and profit, including new agency appointments.
  • Develop deep relationships with assigned agencies to build a diverse and profitable portfolio.
  • Partner with and lead other field disciplines within designated agency relationships to ensure their success through communication and collaboration.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks to make informed decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of multiline commercial underwriting experience; more than 3 years preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Willingness to travel and visit agencies within the territory regularly.
  • Strategic business plan development skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)).
  • Experience in professional selling.
