About the position

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor at Lowe's is responsible for leading a team of associates to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a well-stocked and safe store environment. This role involves coaching and training team members, managing performance, and ensuring effective department coverage. The supervisor will engage in both customer-facing and non-customer-facing activities, including merchandising, inventory management, and safety compliance. Additionally, the supervisor may occasionally open or close the store and serve as the manager-on-duty.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enable a team of associates to deliver the best possible customer experience.
  • Coach and train associates, delegating tasks and managing performance.
  • Monitor the use of store power equipment and coach employees on safe behaviors.
  • Assist with down stocking and area recovery, providing input into merchandising decisions.
  • Conduct safety walks, report hazards, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Engage with customers to clarify needs and identify solutions, closing sales as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding concerns, issues, and team morale.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment.
  • 1 year of experience in customer service.
  • 1 year of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers.
  • Experience providing direction or supervision to teams.
  • Experience supporting or participating in the training and development of associates.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain sales-related licensure or registration as required by law.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of retail customer service experience.
  • 3 years of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers.
  • Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility.
  • Experience in the home improvement retail sector.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
  • Experience in a key carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities.
  • Experience using store computer systems.
