About the position

The Sales Floor Supervisor at Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska is a pivotal role that involves providing positive leadership and support to the team members of the Columbus store. This position is essential for ensuring excellent customer service and the efficient operation of the sales floor area of the retail store. The supervisor will be responsible for managing the retail store in the absence of the manager, which includes overseeing daily operations, maintaining store standards, and ensuring compliance with all sales-floor procedures. The role requires a proactive approach to leadership, with an emphasis on training and developing employees to foster a positive work environment. In this position, the Sales Floor Supervisor will oversee various tasks on the sales floor, including salvaging, stocking, organizing, and maintaining cleanliness. They will serve as a role model for employees, assisting with their training and development as needed. The supervisor will also be responsible for quality control of products on the sales floor and will back up cashiers when necessary. A key aspect of the role is to maintain a positive image of Goodwill Industries in the community, developing good relations with customers, donors, co-workers, and guests. The supervisor will inform customers about seasonal promotions and encourage them to participate in initiatives such as rounding up their purchases for donations. The position requires timely arrival and consistent attendance, as well as adherence to Goodwill's Values Statement, which emphasizes respect, integrity, compassion, stewardship, learning, teamwork, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The Sales Floor Supervisor will also be responsible for reporting any unethical conduct or wrongdoing and ensuring a culture of compliance and safety within the workplace. Responsibilities

  • Provide positive leadership and support to team members of the store.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and efficient operation of the sales floor area.
  • Manage the retail store in the manager's absence.
  • Oversee and assist with work performed on the sales floor, including salvaging, stocking, organizing, and cleanliness.
  • Ensure adherence to all procedures related to sales-floor work activity and document as required.
  • Maintain store operations, including opening and closing as requested by the manager.
  • Serve as a positive role model to employees.
  • Assist with training and development of employees at the manager's request.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality control of products on the sales floor.
  • Back up cashier as needed.
  • Maintain a positive image in the community for Goodwill Industries and develop good relations with customers, donors, co-workers, and guests.
  • Inform customers of seasonal and permanent promotions and encourage rounding up purchases for donations.
  • Ensure timely arrival at the workplace and consistent attendance.
  • Perform work activities in conformance with Goodwill's Values Statement.
  • Report any wrongdoing, unethical conduct, or fraud immediately.
  • Encourage employees to report any compliance issues without fear of retaliation.
  • Embrace cultural diversity in all areas of Goodwill.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience working with the public.
  • Prior supervisory experience or experience in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Valid Nebraska driver's license and meet insurance requirements.
