About the position

At thyssenkrupp Materials NA, Inc., we are committed to providing a safe, professional, and fulfilling internship experience for college students. This Sales Intern position is designed to offer on-the-job training and experience, allowing interns to engage in various work assignments, projects, and activities that vary in complexity. Interns will gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform at a professional level while providing support to professional employees in an organizational function related to their area of study. This is a paid internship opportunity within our Copper and Brass Sales Division, and we are looking for students, recent graduates, or early career candidates who are eager to learn and contribute. The internship is expected to last for six months, with a flexible start date and the option for full-time or part-time hours (minimum of 25 hours per week). The position is based onsite in Portland, Oregon, with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Interns will learn organizational processes and procedures, contribute to assigned projects, assist with documentation and record maintenance, and communicate effectively within a team environment. This role requires the ability to assemble information efficiently, respond to calls and emails, and collaborate with various staff and departments on special projects. Interns are expected to meet the employee attributes and competencies outlined by thyssenkrupp, ensuring a productive and engaging internship experience.

Responsibilities

  • Learn organizational processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated (within 1-year) from an accredited university or college.
  • Project planning skills.
  • Entry-level knowledge and skill within specified area of professional specialty.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Competitive, assertive, and self-motivated personality.
  • Ability to think critically, multi-task, and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
