About the position

The Sales Intern position at Principal offers an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the asset management and distribution ecosystem. Interns will work closely with the North America Sales and Relationship Management team, gaining insights into financial markets, investment products, and the company's selling systems. This role is designed to help students apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world business setting while building professional connections and developing their skills.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a dynamic global sales team to understand financial markets and investment products.
  • Assist in the preparation and engagement of new and existing investment clients.
  • Support various projects across multiple business lines within Principal Asset Management.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on communications, report generation, and data collection related to prospects.
  • Develop expertise with tools such as Salesforce, Morningstar, and Xalt to support sales teams.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or completed an undergraduate or graduate level degree.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities or community service.
  • Interest in a career in sales and asset management.
  • Experience with sales through previous internships or work is preferred.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
