About the position

The Sales Leader is responsible for leading and guiding a team of sales representatives in the flooring industry. This role involves setting goals and quotas, developing strategic sales plans, and overseeing training and performance evaluations to achieve corporate objectives. The Sales Leader will also engage with key clients, analyze sales statistics, and represent the company at trade association meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
  • Review market analysis to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.
  • Direct channel development activity and coordinate sales distribution by establishing quotas and goals.
  • Advise dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.
  • Coordinate activities of sales staff within the team.
  • Analyze sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales.
  • Direct product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.
  • Represent company at trade association meetings to promote products.
  • Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.
  • Meet with key clients and assist sales representatives with maintaining relationships, negotiating, and closing deals.
  • Coordinate liaison between sales department and other sales-related units.
  • Assist other departments within the company to prepare manuals and technical publications.
  • Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client-based expansion.
  • Direct product research and needs of a product within a given region.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Good business sense.
  • Ability to motivate, coach, mentor and lead a team.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
