About the position

The Sales Leader at American Eagle Outfitters plays a crucial role in supporting the store management team by fostering a selling culture and enhancing customer experiences. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the store, ensuring that all associates embody the company's values and deliver a Customer First experience. The Sales Leader is expected to lead by example, drive sales results, and manage talent effectively within the store.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the responsibilities of the Leader on Duty (LOD) to lead a Customer First culture.
  • Communicate clear expectations and hold store associates accountable to brand standards.
  • Proactively seek personal learning and development opportunities to enhance leadership skills.
  • Partner with the Store Management team to execute the store business plan and drive KPI results.
  • Establish and assign individual goals to sales and stock associates, monitoring performance and providing coaching.
  • Drive brand loyalty by ensuring associates are knowledgeable about AEO loyalty programs.
  • Lead training, development, and coaching of the associate team to create a Customer First culture.
  • Motivate associates through feedback and recognition for positive behaviors.
  • Recognize and communicate performance issues to store management for timely resolution.
  • Maintain company brand standards and execute strategic merchandising moves to maximize sales.
  • Ensure effective shipment processing and compliance with operational procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of retail experience or equivalent education.
  • Team leader experience preferred.
  • Flexible availability for store needs.
  • Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient use of technology.
