About the position

The Sales Manager for Centralized MHS Extended Hours at Marriott is responsible for managing customer inquiries and lead requests for group bookings, specifically for Full Service and MSB with 10-99 peak room nights. This role requires a proactive approach to align customer preferences with brand needs, ensuring that each business opportunity is maximized for revenue generation and customer loyalty. The Sales Manager will verify that business is turned over properly and in a timely manner to ensure quality service delivery. The position emphasizes the importance of delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience, which is crucial for driving customer loyalty. In this role, the Sales Manager will process business correspondence, create contracts, and handle other related booking documentation as required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent selling skills, strong communication abilities, and a detailed understanding of property operations, food and beverage services, and event planning. The Sales Manager will also work collaboratively with other sales channels to ensure that sales efforts are coordinated and complementary, while also understanding the overall market dynamics, including competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, and supply and demand. The position is full-time and offers flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of weekday evenings and weekends. The Sales Manager will be expected to implement process improvements and best practices, effectively leverage Group Sales resources, and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role is pivotal in driving the success of the sales team and ensuring that customer needs are met with the highest standards of service.

Responsibilities

  • Handles customer inquiries and leads requests for groups (e.g., Full Service and MSB, 10-99 peak room nights)
  • Responds in a timely manner to incoming group/catering opportunities within predefined Group Sales parameters
  • Refers opportunities to appropriate sales associate if business is outside these parameters
  • Works with customers to align customer preferences with brand needs and actively up-sells each business opportunity
  • Verifies that business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery
  • Maintains customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience
  • Demonstrates excellent selling skills and strong communication skills
  • Understands property operations, food and beverage, and planning
  • Collaborates with other sales channels to ensure coordinated sales efforts
  • Closes the best opportunities for each property based on market conditions and individual property needs
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked, including generating proposals and writing contracts
  • Transfers accurate, complete, and timely information to property in accordance with brand standards
  • Implements process improvements and best practices
  • Processes business correspondence and creates contracts and other related booking documentation as required
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings
  • Effectively resolves guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area
  • OR a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with no work experience required
  • Preferred: 2 years experience selling group business, either at a property or in a sales office
  • Knowledge of property operations and Food and Beverage (F&B)
  • Knowledge of the group sales process for all brands and how to close a sale
  • Team-based selling experience
  • Hospitality Management Degree
