About the position

The Sales Manager at Graybar Electric Company is responsible for achieving sales and gross margin rate budgets within a designated territory. This role involves implementing market plans to support the district's sales and marketing objectives, managing a team of sales representatives, and maintaining relationships with key customers and suppliers. The Sales Manager will also oversee an annual budget of up to $4 million and may serve as a sales trainer.

Responsibilities

• Develop business plans that support the assigned specialty market within the assigned territory.
• Work with sales employees to develop tactical plans that implement the district plan.
• Establish annual sales and gross margin rates for applicable sales reps or other sales employees within the district.
• Evaluate industry and business trends for potential impact on the district.
• Identify key business opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers.
• Ensure effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs are in place.
• Assist in the development and implementation of tools and training programs to support business growth.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a progressively responsible business or wholesale distribution industry role.
• High school diploma or GED required; four-year degree preferred.
• Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry and the company's business, customers, suppliers, and external market conditions.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 years' experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices.
