About the position

The Sales Manager at Embassy Suites Denver Downtown is responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue goals by developing new accounts and growing existing hotel accounts. This role emphasizes a profitable and win-win selling approach, targeting high revenue potential sales calls and managing key accounts effectively. The position requires strong customer relationship management and effective time management to maximize direct sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Targets results-oriented high revenue potential sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program.
  • Maximizes current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth.
  • Achieves a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals, as established by management.
  • Captures competitor's accounts through networking, research, and reader board surveys.
  • Acquires referrals from existing accounts and follows up on all leads within 48 hours.
  • Plans and implements an ongoing Targeted Account Development "hit list" to create new revenue.
  • Targets and prospects for new business through telemarketing and individual creativity.
  • Utilizes yield management techniques by profitably negotiating room rates and function space commitments.
  • Maintains a well-documented, accurate, organized, and up-to-date file management system.
  • Develops strong customer relationships through frequent communication and professional interaction.
  • Conducts research and studies the marketplace to capitalize on the hotel's strengths and competitors' weaknesses.
  • Focuses on revenue-producing activity and maximizes selling time by dedicating a minimum of 90% work time on direct sales efforts.
  • Controls expenses while traveling on the property's behalf.
  • Represents the hotel and Sage Development Resources, Inc. with integrity and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months minimum in sales, customer service related position or hotel experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general sales techniques.
  • Yield management experience.
  • Highly developed customer service skills.
  • Fluency in English (hearing, speaking, reading, writing).
  • 12th grade level mathematics, spelling, and reading skills.
  • Effective business writing skills.
  • Ability to meet clients on and off premises, tour property, and attend functions.
  • Vision to read fine print and computer screens, and observe rooms in poorly lit conditions.
  • Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and work on more than one task at a time.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
