About the position

The Sales Manager for Kroger Manufactured Product (KMP) is responsible for developing profitable sales strategies and executing them to achieve company budgets and objectives. This role involves not only the acquisition of new business through both new and existing accounts but also the maintenance of current business relationships to drive profitable growth. In this position, the Sales Manager will actively search for and identify new customers for KMP products, establishing and sustaining productive relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of Kroger's capabilities and products, allowing the Sales Manager to provide expert knowledge to customers. The responsibilities also include leading product mix decisions, pricing strategies, shipping logistics, packaging, and credit management to ensure profitability and compatibility with production capabilities. Additionally, the Sales Manager will define promotional strategies aimed at delivering incremental volume and profit, as well as develop product pipeline ideas for sustained growth while obtaining customer support. Maintaining marketing intelligence on opportunities, problems, pricing, promotions, and competitors is crucial for success in this role. The Sales Manager will also be involved in budget preparation and will supervise the sales education of agents and brokers regarding KMPs. Collaboration with financial managers to establish pricing and adherence to established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements are also key aspects of this position. The Sales Manager must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Search for and identify new customers for products that result in profitable sales.
  • Establish and sustain productive and cooperative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure business ventures are profitable.
  • Provide expert knowledge of Kroger capabilities and products to customers.
  • Lead product mix, pricing, shipping, packaging, and credit to ensure profitability, volume, and compatibility with production capabilities.
  • Coordinate ordering, pricing, shipping, packaging, and credit to ensure profitability.
  • Define promotional strategies to deliver incremental volume and profit.
  • Define product pipeline ideas for sustained growth and obtain customer support.
  • Maintain marketing intelligence on opportunities, problems, pricing, promotions and competitors.
  • Develop information for budget preparation.
  • Supervise sales education of agents/brokers pertaining to KMPs.
  • Work with appropriate financial manager to establish pricing.
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Any knowledge of relevant business measures including profit/loss (P&L) drivers and resulting impact on business performance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and present effective reports.
  • Solid understanding of the value drivers and fundamentals in food manufacturing.
  • Desired 5 years of manufacturing experience in sales and marketing.
