About the position

The Sales Manager for Local Chemical Distribution at Univar Solutions is responsible for leading a team of Sales Account Managers to drive profitable growth in targeted markets and products. This role involves mentoring team members, implementing sales strategies, and ensuring effective communication between local sales and corporate accounts. The position is home-based, focusing on building relationships with key customers and suppliers while utilizing CRM systems for efficient account management.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains sales territories and assigns accounts to improve productivity.
  • Evaluates team members' efficiency through tracking account activity and sales and margin growth.
  • Implements improvement plans as necessary.
  • Mentors Sales Account Managers in identifying and applying market-based pricing strategies.
  • Ensures regular reviews and updates occur.
  • Assists in the hiring and training of new team members.
  • Coordinates and implements local sales strategy to support product and marketing growth plans.
  • Conducts joint sales calls with the team to provide coaching in selling skills and improve techniques.
  • Implements and utilizes a CRM system as the primary business system for customer profiles and activity management.
  • Ensures accurate communication between local sales and corporate accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a sales or commercial position with knowledge of chemical distribution.
  • Proven sales management experience leading a sales team or strong leadership skills in mentoring and team building.
  • Ability to develop and grow positive relationships with key customer contacts and suppliers.
  • High level of decision-making ability balancing customer needs and company objectives.
  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Outlook, and CRM (Salesforce).
