About the position

The Sales Manager is responsible for developing new and existing business for The Palace Hotel, Madrid, focusing on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sales within The Americas, primarily in the US, Canada, and Mexico. This role involves setting revenue targets, tracking sales activities, and collaborating with various teams to ensure high conversion rates of inquiries. The Sales Manager will also conduct site inspections, entertain clients, and promote the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, all while adhering to company standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the MICE sales effort within The Americas (mainly US/Canada Mexico).
  • Assist in putting together a complete action plan with the Sales team.
  • Set and agree client listings, revenue targets, and action plans for The Palace Hotel, Madrid.
  • Set and agree an effective tracking procedure for activities and results and participate in regular review sessions with the ADOS and Group Sales Team.
  • Overachieve all goals and targets set and agreed with the DOSM.
  • Complete a monthly report detailing activities and financial results in line with company standards, goals, and targets.
  • Work alongside the Marriott Global Sales Offices (GSO) to promote a positive message to clients.
  • Conduct sales trips to visit key clients/markets as listed in the Sales & Marketing Plan.
  • Put together additional reports/feedback on areas/markets of responsibility if requested.
  • Plan and conduct site inspections/familiarisation trips at the hotels in line with Marriott International guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison with key travel partners to encourage business into the hotels.
  • Plan and carry out presentations on behalf of the hotel/company.
  • Entertain clients in line with company guidelines/procedures.
  • Exchange leads and industry information with the GSOs and other hotels.
  • Actively promote the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and achieve set targets.
  • Participate in regular Sales meetings, compiling all requested information and conducting presentations if required.
  • Travel to the USA/Canada (minimum 12 weeks of travel/year, Mexico once/year).
  • Input and record all activities and client listings into the Sales Management System (Opera).
  • Become familiar with all systems, procedures, and computer equipment used by Archer Hotel Management.
  • Work alongside the hotel's Events and Diary teams to ensure a high conversion of all inquiries is achieved.
  • Communicate all relevant client information with the hotel's Events & Diary teams.
  • Ensure that all rate offers are communicated and loaded correctly according to company standards.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of all hotel and company facilities, standards, and services.
  • Understand the destination, related attractions/travel information, and competitor hotels/brands.
  • Compile expense reports regularly and submit to the DOSM for approval following Archer Hotel Management's Travel Policy.
  • Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events on behalf of the hotel.
  • Perform any duties deemed necessary and reasonable, requested by the ADOS or Hotel Executive Committee.
  • Present all written and verbal communication in a professional manner.
  • Investigate new market segments and opportunities for new business.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions requested by Management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years' experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional area, OR a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with no work experience required.
  • Experience in similar types of hotels: city hotel, corporate hotel, luxury segment, large conference capacity.
  • Proactive sales person with direct selling experience in MICE Sales and a proven track record.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish at a good level is essential; other languages are an advantage.
