About the position

The Sales Manager for the Southeast Territory at ECCO will play a pivotal role in maximizing wholesale and retail results while achieving the company's desired budget growth. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who can provide exceptional service to ECCO customers while upholding the core values of the company. The Sales Manager will be responsible for both short and long-term strategic planning, managing and executing a comprehensive approach to all sales activities for their respective accounts. This includes total profit and loss responsibility for the assigned sales channel, ensuring that sales forecasts and marketing programs are effectively planned and executed to maximize sales volume and profits in alignment with company objectives. In this role, the Sales Manager will track account performance against sales and profit plans, maintaining detailed information on the state of the business. They will also participate in product development with the branding team, specifically tailored for the US market. Building and cultivating relationships within the ECCO group, both locally and globally, is essential. The Sales Manager will represent and promote the company at trade association meetings and shows, negotiate customer issues as necessary, and analyze expenses against budgetary requirements. The position requires regular reviews and approvals of direct report expense reports, ensuring alignment with company policy and budget guidelines. The Sales Manager will maintain current industry knowledge, including trends and competitor insights, and will be accountable for the productivity and performance of subordinate team members. This includes preparing seasonal and yearly strategies to maximize resources and ensuring that current sales plans are on track. The Sales Manager will also create goodwill and develop professional relationships with sales associates, buyers, and owners to understand their business and develop methods to increase full-price sales. Acting as an ECCO Brand Ambassador at all times, the Sales Manager will effectively manage and develop their subordinate staff, providing coaching and professional development opportunities as appropriate. Communication with direct superiors and other members of the Executive team regarding significant matters affecting employees and the organization is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for short/long term strategy planning, managing and executing with a comprehensive 360 degree approach for all sales activities for respective account.
  • Total P/L responsibility for respective account and assigned sales channel.
  • Plan and execute sales forecasts, sales/marketing programs and activities to achieve and maximize sales volume and profits consistent with company objectives for the national accounts.
  • Effectively track account performance against sales and profit plans/budgets by maintaining detailed information on the state of the business.
  • Participate in product development with the branding team (specific for the US market).
  • Build and cultivate relationships within the ECCO group locally and globally.
  • Represent and promote the company at trade association meetings and shows.
  • Negotiate/mediate customer problems as necessary.
  • Analyze and control expenses against budgetary requirements.
  • Perform regular review and approval of direct report expense reports, in alignment with company policy and budget guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of retail sales experience.
  • 4+ years of wholesale experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience preferred.
  • Shoe industry experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to resolve questions and problems with supervisor, manage own workflow, meet deadlines and provide leadership and/or supervision to broader sales team.
  • Excellent communication skills and exchange information with others clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to present ideas, facts and technical information and respond to questions from groups of managers, sales persons and customers.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, domestic and internationally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
