About the position

The position involves selling Bigbelly waste units and software to new and existing accounts within a designated geography, primarily focusing on municipalities, colleges, and enterprise accounts. This individual contributor role requires strategic selling in a long sales cycle, with a strong emphasis on building relationships and managing a sales pipeline. The candidate will work remotely and travel within the NYC/CT region, engaging with decision-makers to drive sales and support the company's growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Sell new Bigbelly waste units and software to targeted new accounts and existing Bigbelly accounts.
  • Conduct remote and in-person sales of the Bigbelly solution/system.
  • Manage a sales cycle of 6-12 months, focusing on strategic selling.
  • Build a high-value pipeline of sales opportunities in the assigned territory.
  • Perform outbound calling, emailing, and in-person visits to target accounts.
  • Conduct Bigbelly fleet/unit deployment reviews and software demonstrations.
  • Engage in focused account management of assigned accounts in the territory.
  • Follow up on HQ marketing campaigns and manage account planning and forecast management.
  • Develop RFPs, contracts, and proposals as needed in support of the Sales and Marketing organization.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of municipal operations and local government structures.
  • Knowledge of public procurement processes and funding mechanisms.
  • 10+ years of sales/account management experience.
  • Experience in major account sales involving complex high-value deals.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Office and Salesforce.com.
  • A genuine interest in sustainability, environment, and efficiency.
