About the position

The Omni San Diego Hotel is seeking an experienced hotel sales professional to join its award-winning sales team. This role focuses on booking groups, achieving sales goals, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry partners. Responsibilities

  • Effectively book groups of 10-125 rooms or less on peak night to achieve individual monthly and annual goals.
  • Achieve established room and food and beverage goals.
  • Model teamwork by assisting other managers in reaching their goals.
  • Prospect all market segments within assigned geographic territory.
  • Achieve sales activity standards as assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Prospect from a database of previous groups and lost business.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all hotel capabilities and amenities.
  • Merchandise function space and attain maximum room rental wherever appropriate.
  • Qualify and respond to all leads with customized proposals in a timely manner.
  • Deliver contracts within 24 hours and follow up on group blocks related to Catering Events.
  • Refine delivery of site inspections and proposals continuously.
  • Achieve brand referral goals as assigned by the Director of Sales.
  • Explain Select Rewards and utilize promotions to close business.
  • Utilize Delphi to maintain correspondence and booking activity.
  • Participate in trade organizations and local civic groups.
  • Provide the Director of Sales with a forecast of personal monthly production.
  • Abide by all sales office procedures and systems.
  • Participate in daily business reviews and weekly sales meetings.
  • Promote a high-quality company image by demonstrating professionalism.
  • Develop plans for assistants that align with their future goals.
  • Determine competitive advantages and disadvantages of the hotel in its market.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with GSOs and San Diego Tourism Authority counterparts.

Requirements

  • Previous hospitality experience is required.
  • Luxury hotel experience is preferred.
  • 1 year of previous hotel/resort sales experience or a minimum of 2 years in a hotel/resort management position is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Proficiency in Delphi is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly in English with guests and colleagues is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential.
  • Ability to address guest needs and concerns diplomatically is key to success.
  • Ability to assess problems and implement creative solutions is required.

  • Experience with sales incentive programs.
  • Familiarity with local market trends and competitors.
