About the position

The Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting new business and developing existing catering and group rooms business. This role involves working closely with clients to ensure successful events, managing room bookings, and maintaining communication with various departments to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Sell and book both Rooms and Catering events.
  • Work closely with each group's meeting planner regarding menu planning and hotel meeting services.
  • Obtain all menu details, meeting room setups, and additional needs of the client.
  • Monitor rooming lists and communicate with clients to ensure optimum room pick up.
  • Communicate and enforce contractual agreements pertaining to meeting space and food and beverage.
  • Review all bills sent to clients for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Follow up to ensure meetings were successful.
  • Create detailed event orders to meet client specifications.
  • Maintain documentation of events, changes, and special requests.
  • Provide accurate information to all department heads regarding event details.
  • Organize and conduct site visits and pre-planning meetings.
  • Assist in executing client expectations as outlined in event orders.
  • Handle challenges or concerns immediately and notify the Director of Sales.
  • Greet clients upon arrival to ensure they have all required items.
  • Assist the Director of Sales with projects or special events.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales, particularly in catering and group rooms business.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage products and proper presentation.
  • Understanding of meeting room capacities and banquet set-up.
  • Familiarity with hotels and competitive market.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and sales-related skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of menu selection and pricing.
  • Experience in hospitality or hotel management.
