About the position

The Sales Manager at Republic Services is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the sales activities within an assigned division. This role aims to effectively execute sales strategies that maximize sales volume, drive profitable growth, and develop the sales staff professionally. The Sales Manager will work closely with the sales team to achieve sales goals and enhance customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business strategies and sales and marketing plans that align with the overall operating plan for the business unit.
  • Create the sales forecast and maintain accountability for achieving sales goals, including key metrics and budget targets.
  • Direct a team of sales and administrative personnel, including hiring, training, and performance management; conduct weekly ride-alongs with sales staff for training and coaching.
  • Assist in new customer solicitation, bid preparation, and customer retention strategies.
  • Meet regularly with sales personnel to review sales activity, customer retention, and performance compared to goals, and identify training needs.
  • Proactively contact assigned accounts to identify customer needs and resolve potential issues.
  • Collaborate with business unit leadership to develop and implement pricing strategies that meet company objectives.
  • Monitor market behavior and competitive trends to anticipate changing customer needs and manage the customer base effectively.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the company's services, pricing structures, and assist sales personnel in selling circumstances as needed.
  • Complete all required sales reports in a timely manner.
  • Review Customer Service Agreements for accuracy and compliance with terms and conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a role that includes supervising or managing sales personnel and activities.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive sales strategies.
  • Strong professional presentation skills, confident and assertive demeanor.
  • Good time management skills to ensure efficient completion of responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, effective at all management levels.
  • Strong active listening skills and ability to understand others' points of view.
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and follow through on tasks; maintains a positive outlook.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and competitive drive to achieve goals.
  • Trustworthy and maintains confidentiality at all times.
