About the position

The Sales & Marketing Product Attorney at GEICO will serve as a legal advisor to the sales and marketing departments, ensuring compliance with legal requirements while supporting the business's efforts to sell insurance. The role involves understanding GEICO's products, business goals, and plans, and providing legal advice in a manner that is accessible to non-legal professionals. Collaboration with other attorneys and coordination with specialized legal colleagues is essential to provide comprehensive support to the business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and propose solutions for issues related to sales and marketing under general supervision.
  • Anticipate future legal needs and provide advice related to business plans.
  • Coordinate support for assigned sales and marketing initiatives with the legal team and other departments.
  • Identify and analyze implications of business choices across various legal areas, including privacy, insurance compliance, consumer protection laws, intellectual property, and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience practicing law, preferably at a law firm or in-house, supporting companies that sell to consumers.
  • Experience in property & casualty insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is preferred.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus for speaking and writing.
  • Must possess a law degree and an active law license to practice in the United States.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand business plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to provide legal advice with complete information.
  • Superb judgment regarding legal risks and mitigation opportunities.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.

  • Experience in product counseling or as a product attorney.
