ESS Inc. is seeking a Sales Operations Analyst to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our sales team. This role is pivotal in analyzing, planning, and executing sales operations activities that support our mission of catalyzing a cleaner future through sustainable energy storage solutions. As a globally recognized leader in this field, ESS is committed to enabling the decarbonization of the grid and achieving up to 100% of our electricity from clean, renewable energy sources. The Sales Operations Analyst will play a crucial role in driving performance improvements through sales reporting and business intelligence, ensuring that our sales team is equipped with the necessary insights and tools to succeed. In this position, the analyst will manage the inbound lead evaluation process, ensuring that high-quality leads flow into our CRM tool. This includes pre-qualifying leads using platforms like ZoomInfo and LinkedIn, and ensuring that leads are assigned correctly to the sales team for timely evaluation. The analyst will also investigate targeted market segments to identify potential companies for pursuit, developing engagement plans with the right contacts. Additionally, the role involves managing the NDA process with the Legal team and assisting with CRM entries to keep the sales pipeline updated for accurate reporting. The Sales Operations Analyst will also be responsible for business analysis, which includes project modeling, customer information review, and competitive intelligence tracking. This involves transforming customer data into actionable insights for business development and sales engagement. The analyst will work closely with the marketing team to drive insights into outreach campaigns and oversee the interface between sales and marketing platforms to ensure a seamless transition from marketing qualified leads to sales opportunities. Furthermore, the analyst will provide reporting on lead qualification performance and win/loss reporting, driving actionable insights through regular reporting of opportunities. This role requires strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Suite tools, particularly Excel and PowerBI, and familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Own inbound lead evaluation process to ensure high-quality leads are flowing into CRM tool and provide actionable feedback on process improvements.
  • Manage the pre-qualification process for inbound marketing qualified leads, utilizing ZoomInfo, LinkedIn, and other tools to confirm legitimacy of interested company & contact information before assigning to sales as a potential opportunity.
  • Ensure leads are assigned correctly and that sales teams evaluate and disposition all new leads in a timely manner.
  • Investigate targeted market segments and industries to identify potential companies for pursuit to help sales team expand coverage; develop engagement and coverage plan with the right contacts at the new companies that are identified.
  • Manage NDA process with Legal to ensure reviewed and processed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with CRM entries and opportunity management with sales team ensuring pipeline is updated and current for reporting purposes.
  • Communicate with Finance Team regarding new deal opportunities and contract signings.
  • Assist on project modeling including technical and financial analysis.
  • Review and analyze customer information and organizational structures of identified companies; transform information into specifications to be used for business development and sales engagement.
  • Lead team's competitive intelligence and tracking by reviewing media releases and earnings calls for key learnings and market trends to keep sales team informed.
  • Assess and document target companies' decarbonization, capacity expansion, and energy storage deployments goals.
  • Work with marketing to drive actionable insights into marketing/outreach campaigns.
  • Oversee the interface between sales and marketing platforms, ensuring a seamless transition from marketing qualified leads to sales opportunities.
  • Provide reporting on lead qualification performance, driving actionable insights to improved lead generation tactics.
  • Utilize CRM tool to monitor and report on progress of all inbound leads and sales prospects.
  • Work with Business Operations and Sales to drive actionable insights through regular reporting of won and lost opportunities; creation of pipeline reports and dashboards.
  • SharePoint Folder Clean-up, enabling sales team with a better process at locating sales resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent, with two to four years related experience.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards with demonstrated ability to plan and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Comfort working with ambiguous tasks and have initiative to introduce structure and efficiency while managing priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work with shifting priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite of Tools, including Excel & PowerBI; working CRM knowledge (SFDC, MSFT Dynamics, etc.) with HubSpot experience a bonus.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HubSpot CRM is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with trade show and event attendance support.
