About the position

The Sales Proposal Engineer at ABB is responsible for managing the project bid process and technical aspects of applications in heavy industries, specifically focusing on variable speed drive and motor equipment packages. This role involves supporting early stages of project sales cycles, resolving contractual issues, and facilitating negotiations. Responsibilities

  • Lead proposal activities for assigned variable frequency drive system project pursuits for End Users, EPCs, and Project OEM Customers.
  • Review customer specifications and lead system dimensioning and product configurations.
  • Specify equipment for sub-suppliers and support contract reviews and Terms and Conditions negotiations.
  • Interface with project execution and commissioning teams to outline and validate preliminary project schedules and commissioning services.
  • Conduct internal Project Risk Review processes covering technical, financial, and commercial aspects of proposals.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.
  • Prepare and deliver customer-ready product and solution presentations for various applications.
  • Work with project sales team and customers to position ABB's products and services as solutions to customer challenges.
  • Identify risks and opportunities from customer requirements and prescribe mitigation actions in coordination with the Project Execution team.
  • Help identify potential vendors for equipment and materials required in projects and evaluate supplier proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of business experience in related areas such as Sales, Product Engineering, Technical Support, Application Engineering, or Test Engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge about medium voltage variable speed drives and applications.
  • Commercial astuteness.
  • Candidates must have work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
